Rosie the Riveter the Musical

Was Rosie the Riveter a real person? Or simply a mythical character created in the rich tradition of American folklore? Here is the musical that answers that question once and for all!

Rosie the Riveter, the steely-eyed poster girl in a trademark polka-dot bandana, became the potent patriotic symbol for a generation of young women who traded in their vacuum cleaners and baking pans for riveters and blow torches in the most striking labor shift in American history. Throughout World War II, more than six million “Rosies” left home to begin work in military plants and munitions factories, challenging the traditional notion of female capabilities forever and ensuring that America would win the war. That is the true story. And now here is the show that brings the legend to life…

Meet Rosie Waterman, a maverick nineteen-year-old waitress turned riveter, and the boy she loves, Charlie Jones, a newly enlisted private in the United States Army. Meet an iconic cast of characters who are all about to be thrust into the jaws of a war that will challenge everything they know about commitment, sacrifice, tragedy, laughter, friendship, loyalty, and love.

Brought to life with spectacular energy and emotional truth, this is a show that transcends time, an unabashed salute to the people of the “Greatest Generation” who pulled together and accomplished something that changed the world. Here is a show that celebrates the spirit of patriotism and pride that fueled a generation of young women who “went to war” and came home victorious – reminding us that true heroes appear in the most unlikely of places.

Brimming with the familiar music of the Big Band era re-scored to engage and delight a contemporary audience, “Rosie the Riveter” is a show that pays tribute not just to the women of World War II, but to the indefatigable spirit of the elusive “American Dream” -- still our most cherished possession.

It is with immense pride that we present this show on the 250th Anniversary of The American Declaration of Independence.

A customer list will be sent to the presenting company once the show is closed.

The Historic Preservation fee is a $8 charge on each ticket purchased both online and through the Box Office.  This fee helps fund the nonprofit Tower Theatre ongoing restoration and maintenance. The fee added to your ticket is essential to maintain and enhance this iconic 1940 landmark.
