Captain America Serial—Episode 2 (1944; 16 minutes)

The 15-chapter weekly series was the first theatrical appearance of a Marvel Comics character, and the most expensive serial Republic Studios ever made. The masked Captain America (aka District Attorney Grant Gardner) attempts to solve a rash of high-profile suicides induced by the hypnotic chemical “Purple Death,” and thwart the evil Scarab’s plans to deploy super-weapons "Dynamic Vibrator" and "Electronic Firebolt.”
