JUNGLEERS IN BATTLE, 41st Infantry Division during WWII


The 41st Infantry Division, an Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana National Guard Infantry Division was activated for federal service on September 16, 1940. After the attack at Pearl Harbor, they were sent for coastline duty along the Oregon/Washington coastline. They were the first American division to arrive on Australian soil after the Japanese had attacked at Darwin, and fought through New Guinea, the Philippines and onto occupation duty in the Hiroshima District in Japan.
