America -- A Global Perspective

Lulu Garcia-Navarro, host of NPR’s Weekend Edition Sunday

Monday, November 18, 7:00 p.m.

NPR's Lulu Garcia-Navarro moved back to the U.S. after years abroad as a foreign correspondent in places like the Middle East and Latin America, that have been heavily impacted by US policy. How does the rest of the world see us and how do we see the world? She will share examples from her years of field reporting and from her current role as host of NPR's Sunday show.

Free student tickets available at COCC Student Life Office

About Garcia-Navarro: Lourdes “Lulu” Garcia-Navarro delivers news and imaginative story-telling to public radio’s flagship Sunday program. Before joining the Sunday morning team, she served as NPR correspondent based in Brazil, Israel, Mexico, and Iraq. As NPR’s first Latina host of a news program, Garcia-Navarro brings the perspective of years in the field in Latin America, joining it with what is happening on the ground among the Hispanic community in the US.

Garcia-Navarro has been awarded two Peabodies, a Dupont, an OPC, an Edward R Murrow, and two Gracies. In 2011, she was also honored by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for her outstanding contribution to Public Radio.
