Jennifer Johns is an Artivist (artist +activist) who is dedicated to raising awareness around food justice and local sustainable economies through her initiative, GO LIV.

The issue of food security includes sustainability of production, availability of healthy food, and fair wages. Family Kitchen is a 27 year-old feeding the hungry program in Bend, currently serving 5,000 free meals per month.

The standout songstress has toured with and opened shows for some of the most respected names in the industry including Lauryn Hill, Black Eyed Peas, Mos Def, Common, KRS-1, Les Nubian, Blackalicious, Zap Mama, Res, Capelton, Bebel Gilberto, Talib Kweli and Black Thought of The Roots, to name a few. Johns music abounds with experiences that are both familiar and inspiring.

“Vacillating between Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul, Electronica, Funk, Reggae, World and every kind of rhythm in between, sultry voiced Jennifer Johns crafts stirring tunes that are both heart-rending and head-bobbing. The Oakland, California music powerhouse proved that she is in fact "well on her way to establishing herself as one of hip-hop soul's elite." Chicago Tribune

"It is not every day that an artist achieves the ability to stir the heart and soul through song and vibration. My heart has not yet stopped stirring since I have heard Jennifer Johns." KRS-One

While in Bend, Johns will visit with diners at Family Kitchen, work with students in local schools and tour local sustainability projects.
