13th Annual BendFilm Festival

BendFilm returns to the Tower October 6-9!

Tickets now available through BendFilm

10:15AM: The Brand New Testament - God exists! He lives in Brussels, but is a real bastard and a petty tyrant to his family. His son is known well, of course. JC managed to escape his father’s grasp and live among us, getting himself killed in the process. But God has a daughter too. Ea is ten-years-old and she has had enough of her father using humanity as his playthings. When she spies the right opportunity, she hacks into his computer and leaks to the entire world via text message their inevitable date of death. What follows is Jaco Van Dormael’s witty and eccentric answer to the loaded question: what would you do if you knew exactly how much time you had left to live?

1:00PM: Prison Dogs - A story of love, loss, and redemption. The documentary follows three inmates serving long-term sentences for murder and armed robbery who have been selected to participate in a program that trains service dogs for veterans with PTSD. The profound relationship between humans and animals restores the lives of those who are physically and figuratively imprisoned. It is a story of hope and the power of second chances.

3:30PM: Return of the Secaucus 7 - Special Screening - tickets available through BendFilm

6:30PM: Sea Gypsies: The Far Side of the World - The vessel is Infinity, a 120 ft hand-built gypsy boat, crewed by a band of miscreants. The journey, an 8,000 mile pacific crossing, from New Zealand to Patagonia, with a stop in Antarctica. Unlike all the other boats heading to Antarctica though, Infinity is no well-financed, ice-reinforced super yacht, crewed by well-paid professional sailors, with carefully thought out agendas. Infinity lives in the moment and sails on a whim, without permission or insurance of any kind.

8:45: Contemporary Color - Legendary musician David Byrne staged an event in 2015 to celebrate the creativity of Color Guard: synchronized dance routines involving flags, rifles, and sabers. Performers including St. Vincent, Nelly Furtado, Devonté Hynes, Zola Jesus, Ad-Rock, tUnE-yArDs, and Ira Glass collaborated on original pieces with 10 color guard teams from across the US and Canada, resulting in this bold and irrepressible snapshot of a one-of-a-kind live performance.
