Mike Nowak at the Tower Theatre
Mike joined the Tower in August 2008 and has over 15 years experience in stage lighting. As Technical Director he is responsible for all lighting design and operations.
Let's step back and be thankful that Mike didn't get eaten by a cheetah in his previous job so he could come join us for the last 8 1/2 years. In his time here when he is not making the sound and lighting top notch for our artists he is marveling at the talent that comes through. His favorites include working with Ed Asner (the one and only!) and seeing Rusted Root who he has loved since his high school days.
Catch him at the upcoming Bend Follies were he has helped write, produce and will direct this hilarious annual show. He believes the follies are a great way to laugh at ourselves through song and sketch. Just to be clear, Mike's favorite thing about Bend is the awesome eclectic mix of people who live here, so his jokes come from a place of love.
His dream show at the Tower? U2! Hello, Bono if you are reading this in your spare time please message us. (You'll need those glasses because its gorgeous and sunny in Bend)
Oh and back to that cheetah comment. Mike previously did live performance lighting at a zoo in his hometown. The lights were 40 feet above the cheetah habitat and our brave Mike was regularly suspended via harness above the enclosure right around lunch time. (Cue the circling hungry cheetahs) Luckily the safety devices all did their job so Mike could do his job. Phew!
Please give a round of applause to the great Mike Nowak and look and listen for his wonderful work next time you are at the Tower!
