The internationally acclaimed trio of Matthew Gilsenan, Daryl Simpson and James Nelson return to the Tower Theatre, this time with the world’s greatest holiday songs in “A Celtic Christmas.” Wrapping inimitable harmonies around their endearing humor, the Celtic Tenors will perform a musical mix of seasonal and spiritual favorites, plus classical and Americana standards.
The Celtic Tenors cracked the “stuffy tenor” mold, performing with Air Supply, Dionne Warwick, and the Chieftains. Daryl, James and Matthew reflect the “New Ireland” where peace has at last replaced the country’s troubled past. As Catholics and Protestants from both the north and south of Ireland, the Tenors sing and work together in harmony, literally living their message of good will for the Christmas season.
“The Bend Surgery Center’s Foundation Series truly brings the world to Bend,” says Ray Solley, the Executive Director of the Tower Theatre Foundation. “The Celtic Tenors have just the right songs to start the holiday season, from operatic show-stoppers to masterful a cappella arrangements of Christmas classics.”
The Tenors will be accompanied by Bend's own Dove String Quartet, four veteran musicians who have provided chamber music across Central Oregon for the past three decades.
The Tower Theatre Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to maintaining and operating the historic theatre and making the best in performing arts available and accessible to all citizens of Central Oregon. Program information, group discounts, gift certificates, season and individual tickets are available at the Tower Theatre box office, or at www.towertheatre.org.
