“Rocky Horror Picture Show”

“Rocky Horror Picture Show”

The 1975 cult classic returns to the Tower Theatre for a special, late night Halloween Eve treat, Saturday, October 30. Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon star as newlyweds Brad and Janet, lost in a rainstorm and seeking shelter in the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry), a mad scientist from the planet Transsexual.

But let’s face it, the plot for this send-up of old horror and sci-fi flicks is less entertaining than the rock songs, dance numbers, and kinky pairings that ensue…and that’s just in the theatre.

For more than three decades, the hallmark of “Rocky Horror” screenings is the live audience participating in the action: dancing, dressing, singing along – even pulling out props – in unison with the celluloid cast.

For the third Halloween in a row, the Tower Theatre Foundation presents “Rocky Horror Picture Show”— with bags of “dry” props (rice, toast, toilet paper, cards) and a “Rocky Horror” character costume contest. Plus, the willing and the uninitiated can learn “a bit of a mind flip, into a time slip” when it’s time to do the “Time Warp” dance again, and again, and again!

Doors open at 9 pm. Costume contest and “Time Warp” dance lessons start at 9:30 pm. Prizes presented before the screening at 10 pm.

The interactive “Rocky Horror” (rated R) is a presentation of the Tower Theatre Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to maintaining and operating the historic theatre and making performing arts available and accessible to all citizens of Central Oregon. Program information, group discounts, gift certificates, season and individual tickets are available at the Tower Theatre box office, or at www.towertheatre.org.
