Extra Performance Of “Les Misérables” Added Due To Ticket Demand

Extra Performance Of “Les Misérables” Added Due To Ticket Demand As a result, tickets have been disappearing quickly for the six performances since going on sale in October with only a few seats available for purchase seven weeks before opening night.  In order to meet the extraordinary desire for tickets, Solley has announced that a seventh performance of  “Les Misérables” has been added on Wednesday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m.

According to Solley, “The Tower's Marquee Series (sponsored by U.S. Bank, with additional support from BendBroadband), has proven to be a highly anticipated showcase of local musical productions. Yet, the demand for “Les Miz” tickets has been unprecedented. We are thrilled to add this performance so even more Central Oregonians can experience the music and passion of this iconic drama.”

“Les Misérables” is the Tony Award winning musical based on the novel by Victor Hugo that has been seen by over 65 million people in 42 countries.  It is an epic tale of passion and destruction that presents a powerful affirmation of redemption and the human spirit set in 19th century France, a nation in the grip of revolution.  “Les Miz” focuses on convict Jean Valjean (Jason Stein), who is on the run while being hunted relentlessly for breaking his parole by his adversary, Police Inspector Javert (James Knox).  Valjean has no choice but to fight for his life and sacrifice everything to honor the promises he has made and protect the people he loves such as his adopted daughter Cossette (Shantae Knorr),  and  her mother Fantine  (Mollie Tennant) .

“Les Misérables” is being produced by Shore Thing Productions, the company that presented  “1776” In Concert with an all-female cast at the Tower Theatre in summer 2012.  The production will be directed, in an all new staging, by Mike Nowak who will be assisted by Brad Ruder.  It will feature some of Central Oregon’s most skilled classical singers, guided by Jason Stein and Nancy Engebretson, co-founders of OperaBend and accompanied by a full orchestra conducted by Central Oregon Symphony Maestro, Michael Gesme.  Michelle Mejaski, owner of the award winning Gotta Dance Studio and Company, will oversee the production’s choreographed stage movement.
