(BEND, OR., July 23, 2010): The Executive Director of the Tower Theatre
Foundation, Ray Solley, announced the Tower Theatre in downtown Bend
will again this summer present a special screening of the cult golf favorite
“Caddyshack” to tie into the final rounds of the Jeld-Wen Tradition Champions
Tour. The hole-in-one comedy classic “Caddyshack” (1980; rated R) tees off Saturday
night, August 21, as Jeld-Wen Tradition Week concludes in Central
Oregon. It’s the snobs (Chevy Chase) against
the slobs (Bill Murray). Proceeds will help fund increased educational and
family programming by the local nonprofit Tower Theatre Foundation.
“The Jeld-Wen Tradition is a major asset to Central
Oregon,” said Solley. “Since golf fans of all ages are watching
the PGA pros at Crosswater, we wanted to give them a chance to watch the
painfully hilarious amateurs at Bushwood Country Club, too!”
The Tower is also part of Jeld-Wen’s “Tickets for Charity”
initiative. When patrons purchase one day or weeklong tournament passes at the
Tower box office, or through TowerTheatre.org, 100% of the ticket price will be
returned to the Tower Foundation to help fund the theatre’s educational and
community outreach programs for children and families. Projects benefitting include
“A Christmas Carol,” produced by the nonprofit children’s theatre company
B.E.A.T.
The Tower Theatre Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)3
organization dedicated to maintaining and operating the historic theatre and
making the best in performing arts available and accessible to all citizens of Central
Oregon. Program information, group discounts, gift certificates and individual
tickets are available at the Tower Theatre box office, or at www.towertheatre.org.
