The Tower Theatre Foundation has selected two new members for its Board of Directors, Mr. John Stafford and Mr. James P. McCormick. Both gentlemen accepted four-year positions as members of the Board, which oversees the operation and policies of the Tower Theatre. Also elevated to position of Vice-Chair was Mr. Matthew Bowler, owner of the Mandala Agency in Bend. Mr. Bowler had previously served as a member of the Tower Theatre Foundation’s Board of Directors as Chair of the Marketing Committee. Mathew will be replacing Mr. Mark Capps, owner of Boomtown, as Vice-Chair with Mark remaining on the Board.
John Stafford is an advertising executive with Bend Living who moved to Bend with his wife, Sara, shortly after his graduation from Virginia’s Bridgewater College with a degree in Political Science in 1997. According to John, “we jumped in the car and drove west, across the Rockies, to Bend, Oregon”. John considers himself well acquainted with the northwest and Central Oregon after serving with the Marine Reserves and working on both the Oregon Coast in the fishing industry and in the Bend area in lumber-products as well as in the executive recruiting business before joining Bend Living in 2003.
Jim and Jane McCormick retired to Crosswater in 2004 after having sold the distribution company he had owned and operated since 1974 in the central valley of California. Jim has a history of community involvement having served on several boards, foundations and associations. Among his list of current responsibilities are Directorships of the Sunriver Rotary Club, Osprey Point Homeowners Association and The Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley, California.
According to Mr. Bruce Hinchliffe, Chairman of the Tower Foundation Board, “in addition to a love for the performing arts, John and Jim bring experience and skills that will be of great value to the Foundation”.
