BEND EXPERIMENTAL ART THEATRE |
Auditions for the joint Tower Theatre Foundation and Bend Experimental Art Theatre (BEAT) production of A Christmas Carol will be held September 2nd and 3rd from 7 to 9pm at the Tower Theatre. This production is the debut for the local adaptation of the Dicken’s classic. Howard Schor, a seasoned writer and Executive Director for BEAT, and Bradley Thompson, an experienced actor, director, and writer chose to closely follow the language and character formation found in the original novel. Mary Kilpatrick, Founder and Artistic Director for BEAT, will direct.
In preparation for your audition for this community theater cast (20 Adults and 5 children) it is recommended that you: read the short Dicken’s novel, watch the 1951 film version of A Christmas Carol, starring Alistair Sim, and prepare English and Cockney accents. There will be sides (parts of the play) and you are welcome to do a monologue, accents please. Many roles require the demonstration of singing and dancing talents. Actors of all ages are encouraged to audition.
The performance run for A Christmas Carol will be December 17th through December 22nd, with rehearsals starting October 6th. All actors must be available during these times.
As a gift to the community, BEAT will offer a free General Audition Class for all ages taught by Bradley Thompson on August 31st from 12 – 2pm at the BEAT studio (300 SE Scott St., Bend). Attendance at this class is in no way a prerequisite for auditions for A Christmas Carol.
