One of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, URINETOWN THE MUSICAL is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he’s had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, URINETOWN THE MUSICAL is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny.

Cascades Theatrical Company (CTC) is a not-for-profit center for community performance of theatrical arts and the promotion of cultural arts in Central Oregon. CTC provides opportunities for members of the Central Oregon community to be entertained and enriched by high-quality theatrical productions and events and to participate meaningfully in the creation and support of these productions.

URINETOWN THE MUSICAL was nominated for an impressive 10 Tony Awards, winning for Best Book, Score, and Direction. It also won multiple Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, Obie and Outer Critics Circle Awards.

This production is being directed by Brad Hills, Executive Artistic Director of Central Oregon's new professional theatre, Innovation Theatre Works. Brad brings 30+ years of theatrical stage experience as a producer, director and designer to this project. Brad has been Artistic Director of 4 previous theatre companies in Los Angeles, Seattle and Washington, DC, has directed over 50 full-length productions, including 19 World Premieres, in his career and has received numerous awards for directing along the way.

Greg Kotis wrote the book and co-wrote the lyrics for URINETOWN THE MUSICAL, for which he won two Tony Awards in 2002. Currently, he is developing two new musicals with Mark Hollmann. Mark Hollmann won a Tony Award for writing the music and lyrics for Broadway’s URINETOWN THE MUSICAL.
