| WELCOMING COMMENTS FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR |

As amazing as it might seem, summer is over and our fall programming is in the final stages of scheduling! The months of June, July and August have proven to be as exciting as the incredible Central Oregon climate. Completion of the "Live at the Tower Series" and "the SERIES, Celebrating Excellence in Independent Films" has left our patrons wanting more and we are eager to accommodate.
The Membership Drive has increased our support to more than 300 percent over previous registrations! The interest and enthusiasm for our programs has not only been reflected in such overwhelming numbers of new and renewed memberships but also in the responses we have received through our interviews and surveys. Such response has instilled in our staff the incentive to continue to challenge ourselves in providing the very best in entertainment and enlightenment.
The coming months will see an increase in the variety of shows offered and a continuing depth of talent for our patrons. We are also extremely proud of our efforts in creating a student "out-reach" program to begin educating children of our community in the areas of music, dance and theatre.
Please also mark your calendars for our very special Art Hop at the Tower on October 6th. Working in cooperation with the High Desert Art League, this benefit for the Tower Theatre Foundation promises to be a highlight of our fall season.
Don't forget to watch our future newsletters and ticket alerts for special performances and presentations. We at the Tower Theatre are excited and eager to share the future of the Tower with you.
Best regards, Eli Ashley, Executive Director

| VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH |
|
With the whirlwind of the summer months, the selection and recognition of our August Volunteer of the Month was postponed and is only now being announced.
The Tower Theatre is proud to announce that Barbara Rosenbrooke is our August Volunteer of the Month! Ms. Rosenbrooke is a long-time Bend area resident having moved from a ranch just east of Bend to her new home in Timber Ridge only three years ago. Barbara says she enjoys skiing, hiking and all of the great out-of-door experiences for active living here.
Barbara's involvement at the Tower began after a friend took her on a tour of the renovated theatre and she recalled coming to the Tower with her family and her children in earlier times. Volunteering at the Tower has given her the opportunity to be "amazed at the variety and quality of the shows" and she constantly recommends volunteering to those who are interested in meeting great people while performing a service to the community.
Thank you Barbara for your most excellent attitude, your friendly manner and your willingness to "jump in" when and where your talents are needed most. To show our appreciation, Ms. Rosenbrooke will receive a gift certificate to a local eating establishment with the Towers' thanks and gratitude.
The SERIES FALL TICKET ALERT "The Puffy Chair", a Sundance Film Festival award-winning feature will be the first film of "The Series" starting at the Tower Theatre this month.
"Puffy Chair" will be the first in a series of five films to be shown during September, October and November as part of "The Series," a special program of independent and classic films made possible by the Tower Theatre Foundation. Rounding out the schedule are: "Old Joy", a film by Kelly Reinhardt, a "Whitmanesque exploration of nature, both human and elemental, and the idea that old joy can have new connotations"; "Al Franken: God Spoke", a year-long journey with one of America's most effective political satirists. Al Franken confronts and engages political pundits and a host of beltway bigmouths; "Raiders of the Lost Ark", a unique opportunity to see this great film as it was intended to be viewed – on the big screen!; "Wondrous Oblivion", a Paul Morrision film about a young English boy obsessed with cricket who unwittingly gets caught up in racial tensions when he befriends his new Jamaican neighbors.
"The Series" begins with the 5:30 PM Showing of The Puffy Chair or the 8:00 PM Showing of the Puffy Chair on Friday, September 15th. Alcohol is permitted in the theatre at the 8PM showings; therefore, patrons must be 21 or older. Call the ticket office at 541-317-0700 for details.
