The summer months have come to the Tower. Nestled in our air-conditioned theatre we're managing to offer a comfortable and exciting respite for Central Oregonians looking for "cool" entertainment!
We were extremely pleased in obtaining initial screening rights for Prairie Home Companion as part of our "The Series: Showcasing Excellence in Independent Film." Four nights of extremely high-quality fun for film aficionados.
June and July have also seen us using every available moment to spruce up and address maintenance issues at the Tower as well. A list of improvements and upgrades are listed further on in Tower Talk.
Please make sure to check out the articles in Tower Talk about our sponsors and upcoming plans for Live At The Tower, the balance of films in "The Series" as well as our Employee of the Month, Bonnie Der Trossian.
Our membership drive has also proved to be extremely successful. The to-date total amounts to over $53,000.00! The membership committee has managed to accomplish so much in the support of the Foundation. I am so pleased to be part of such a dynamic community. Thank you to each and every person involved and welcome to all of the new members, sponsors and supporters of the Tower Theatre!
See you at the Tower….Eli Ashley.

| THE SERIES: SHOWCASING EXCELLENCE IN INDEPENDENT FILM |
|
July and August will celebrate the conclusion of The Series for 2006. Having enjoyed so many great titles, the ending three shows The Celestine Prophecy, Russian Dolls, and Mongolian Ping Pong promise to wrap the season with a flurry of cinematic excellence!
Our most grateful thanks to Bend Living, for being the Title Sponsor of the The Series as well as to The Source, Bend Radio Group and The Mandala Agency for their incredible support and assistance. Don't miss the final three films of this great series.
VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH
Ms. Bonnie Der Trossian was honored by Executive Director Eli Ashley and the Tower Foundation as Volunteer of the Month at the recent screening of Prairie Home Companion on July 11th. Sighting Bonnie's willingness and fantastic attitude in greeting and assisting audience members, Mr. Ashley announced that Bonnie would be receiving a gift certificate for dinner at Bon Bien. In her acceptance comments, Bonnie stated that she enjoyed being a Tower Volunteer and that Bend should be very proud to have such a wonderful venue for the performing arts in its midst. She also urged folks to consider volunteering at the Tower too! Well done Bonnie and congratulations!

THE TOWER SPRUCES UP
The months of June and July have seen some marvelous maintenance accomplishments at the Tower. Among the projects already completed or in the process are: Cleaning of all carpets; painting of the stage; replacing and cleaning of light fixtures; installation of coat hooks in all restrooms; repaired and improved railings; new poster frames in the lobby; added counter space and storage in the concession stand. These and other planned improvements are part of the ongoing effort to keep the Tower looking its best and creating an atmosphere of cleanliness, comfort and welcome for all of our patrons. If you have suggestions for other possible improvements, please give Don Senecal a call at 541-389-9739 or email him at don@towertheatre.org.
MEMBERSHIP DRIVE A HUGE SUCCESS
Executive Director Eli Ashley announced this week that our to-date totals for new memberships have passed $53,000.00! New memberships are continually being accepted as summer continues, but the "official" membership drive has now been completed for 2006. A special appreciation party will be held on Thursday, July 20 for new and returning members as well as sponsors and supporters of the Tower Theatre Foundation. The Appreciation Party will feature fine wine, hors d'oeuves and a special performance by the Desert Rose Piano Quartet featuring Kathy Gault, Patti Petersen, Margaret Littlehales and Lynn Goetz.
We would especially like to thank the co-chairs of the Membership Drive Committee, Sue Hollern, Clella Thomas and Craig Moore for their untiring efforts and leadership. Without their patience and inspiration, efforts like the Membership Drive would be impossible.

| SPECIAL SPONSOR RECOGNITION |
|
Without the support of numerous companies, businesses, individuals and associations the Tower Theatre would be hard-pressed to be as successful as it has managed to be. Part of this remarkable success should be credited to the Tower sponsors. Among the event title and supporting sponsors for this season are: Francis Hansen and Martin, Jones and Roth, The Bank of The Cascades, The Mandala Agency, Bend Living, Central Oregon Audiology, Deschutes Brewery, Bend Radio Group, The Source, Sterling Savings Bank, Boomtown, Sotheby's International Realty/Cushman and Tebbs Company and LibertyBank. If you have an opportunity to frequent these businesses and corporations, please share your support for their vision and community awareness.
LOOKING FORWARD Even while performances such as the Live At The Tower Series and The Series are winding down, the Tower Theatre is as busy as ever planning and booking new shows for the future. Bookings for use of the Tower are already on the schedule far into 2007! Tower-generated performances and community and private bookings are constantly being submitted, negotiated and scheduled.
Live At The Tower Series is currently planning on expanding the number of performances for next season. All Series Pass Holders and Members will have First Priority on all ticket availability for those performances. This last Live at The Tower Series culminated with a great party at Merenda's with sponsors, supporters and guests enjoying fine wine and an excellent hors d'oeuvres bar…a great way to start planning for next season while showing our appreciation to this season's supporters.
Another huge event coming on October 6th will be the First Friday's Art Hop at the Tower. Partnering with the High Desert Art League has resulted in sponsor responses already from Sotheby's Realty and LiberTyBank and will include a special invitation art benefit and reception as well as an open-to-the-public art show. The entire event will be a raffle, art sale, entertainment experience and benefit for the Tower Theatre. This is certainly something worth marking on your calendar now!
ALSO…repeat presenters such as the Obsidian Opera, Children's Music Theatre, Deschutes Library and the Bend Film Festival will be joined by newcomers such as Cascade Winds, who recently used the Tower for the first time, and Heritage Theatre in exciting performances.
SURVEY SEZ!...
Response has been fantastic on our Patrons and Senior Citizen Surveys. A compilation of information and recommendations based on the input from the surveys will be completed at the end of August for consideration by the Foundation and staff. Several completers of the survey have already received notices of their having received free tickets to up-coming films as a result of their participation. To fill out your survey, go to: TOWER SURVEY.
As Calvin and Hobbes would say, "The Days (and Nights) Are Just Filled!" See you at the Tower!
